SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SERIAL CAT TORTURE CASE

KooymanAugust 2008

Dear Pet Lover,

On May 13, 2008 in Rancho Cucamonga, California, Timothy Kooyman lured two neighborhood pet cats with an opened can of cat food. Kooyman grabbed the cats and put them in a plastic storage container. He broke all the legs on both cats. After driving around for awhile, he parked his truck and proceeded to cut the tails off both cats with scissors. He then stabbed one of the cats in the eye and slit the throat of the other. When law enforcement arrived, they found both cats still alive, covered with blood, and gasping for air in the sealed plastic container.

Kooyman admitted to torturing a different cat earlier the same day by breaking her legs, cutting off her tail, dousing her with gasoline, and setting her on fire while she was still alive. The torture and killing resulted in a hillside brush fire.

Lucky

December 2004

Lucky’s Story

Lucky on Dock with Tape and ExplosivesOn July 13, 2004, six people met at a prearranged location near a Northern California lake. One person brought duct tape and a pocketful of explosives. Another brought a video camera. The man who organized this summer evening gathering arrived carrying a pet rabbit he had found on the street.

The group went out onto a fishing pier. They duct-taped a quarter-stick of dynamite to the 4-pound defenseless bunny, lit the fuse and threw her into the water. They videotaped the entire incident, presumably hoping to document the rabbit being blown to smithereens.

On July 28, Nicholas Sigmon and Paul Collins were charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty. According to Deputy District Attorney Steve Dal Porto, they were not charged with felonies because neither has a criminal history and Lucky escaped injury.

If you would like to help make sure that Lucky’s case is given the attention it deserves here’s what you can do to help:

Please write to the District Attorney and request vigorous prosecution of this case. Ask that his office work to ensure convictions for Nicholas Sigmon and Paul Collins and that maximum sentencing be pursued.

Dean

$1000 REWARD

December 2004

NOTICE TO PEOPLE WITH CHILDREN AND PETS

DeanOn July 23, 2004 on Tulare Bend near Humbolt Drive in Rancho Tehama, Corning, California, a 5-year-old German Shepard named Dean was shot and killed by Mark Patterson on Tulare Bend after accidentally escaping from his secured property through an open gate. Patterson is known to kill other domestic animals and has been investigated for animal cruelty.

Dean was not only a treasured pet who was titled for obedience and temperament, but he was also a self-trained therapy dog for his owner, who suffers from Crohn’s disease.

People who use guns to kill neighborhood pets are cowards, lusting for power and dominance over defenseless victims. This is the same mindset as people who victimize children, women and the elderly.

According to FBI research, 85% of serial killers start off by killing neighborhood pets. Having a person who shoots animals in your neighborhood is not only a threat to pets, but also to you and your entire family.

Cruelty to an animal is a crime that is punishable by a fine of up to $20,000 and 3 years in prison.

Voices for Pets is offering a $1000 reward for additional information on Dean’s case or any other cases leading to the arrest and conviction of Mark Patterson.

Tyson

$1,000 REWARD

NOTICE TO PEOPLE WITH CHILDREN AND PETS

March 23, 2004

TysonOn March 23, 2004 on Little Lane near the cross street of Janet in Concord, California, a two year old Chihuahua named Tyson was shot and killed with a pellet gun. A pellet gun fires a piece of lead at 1000 feet per second. If the pellet does not strike bone, it can pass right through a pet, child or adult.

People who use these weapons to kill neighborhood pets are cowards, who are into having power and dominance over defenseless victims.

Voices for Pets is offering a $1000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the coward who killed Tyson.

Tom

$3,000 REWARD

BAY POINT DOG FIGHTING VICTIM
Reward to Find Tom's Torturer

June 22, 2001

On the evening of Saturday, June 16, someone placed a seriously injured cat in a black plastic bag near the middle of Bella Vista Avenue in Baypoint.

A veterinary technician saw the cat, who had managed to get his head through a hole in the bag but appeared to be dead. The vet tech stopped and got a carrier from the back of her truck and took the cat to the county emergency clinic in Concord.

We have given the cat the name "Tom" until his family can be found.

Tom's head was covered with dirt and blood. The right side of his head was swollen, the pupil of the right eye was constricted, indicating a concussion. Blood filled the nostril. There was blood in his mouth and some teeth were missing. He kept drifting into and out of consciousness.

If you live on or near Bella Vista Avenue in Baypoint, this concerns you. You have a very violent, sadistic, cowardly person living in your neighborhood—a person who is into dominance and power over defenseless victims. You, your family, and your pets are in danger. The person who did this is a person who enjoys the suffering of other beings.

Jeffrey Dahmer, Richard Allen Davis, and others have a documented history of this type of behavior.

The $3,000 reward is offered by Voices For Pets, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this sadistic and cowardly act.
